Ever feel like the older you get, the quicker time goes? And now you’ve got a growing family, juggling kids with work and life in general, it’s going by even faster in a bit of a blur. We’re charging through life at a million miles an hour – but we know we need to slow down and make the most of these moments while our children are young, adventurous, inquisitive, creative (… and actually want to spend time with us!).
When our kids are grown up and look back at their childhood, it’s not going to be the hours in front of the TV or the stuff they were bought that they’ll remember – it will be the time they spent with us and the experiences we shared. And no, this doesn’t mean big lavish holidays or days out to expensive attractions (although they can be nice too!), it’s appreciating and finding the fun in the everyday moments.
With an active pre-schooler and a new baby, I’m only too aware that a lot of parenting is dealing with tantrums, cleaning up mess, trying to get simple instructions communicated effectively and nagging little ones not to break themselves/other around them/your prized possessions/your sanity – but in between these loud and frantic moments, there’s a lot of fun to be had.
This blog will explore different ideas and advice for family-friendly outdoor activities, indoor play, everyday learning, events, days out, holidays and escapades. Join me on this journey and if you have any suggestions or comments, I’d love to hear from you.
PS – An online shop is also under development (although may take a few months to get just right…), which will feature toys, kits and products to help inspire play and adventure.
